Founded in 1957, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) is a regional consortium of local governments in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. MWCOG also has members from the Maryland and Virginia state governments, as well as the United States Congress which has jurisdiction over the District of Columbia. MWCOG is focused on regional issues including economic development, transportation, public safety, and the environment.
