Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch

The Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch is a unit of the London Metropolitan Police equipped with horses for patrol and public order use. Mounted police are often seen at football matches. Crowd control was/is the primary object of the deployment of the police horses, both for orderly and disorderly gatherings of assembled crowds. The controlling units of police horses usually consisted of 1 Inspector, 1 Sergeant, 10 Constables.
