From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting nutrition to people and communities with AIDS, HIV and other life-threatening illnesses. MANNA provides essential and specialized services to men, women and children living with HIV / AIDS in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Central/Southern New Jersey.
According to their site, mannapa.org, MANNA serves children and adults, individuals and families, and also delivers meals and nutritional counseling to home, clinic, and congregate meal settings. More than 90% of MANNA’s clients meet federal poverty guidelines. 85% of MANNA’s clients are African-American and Latino.
All of MANNA’s services are free of charge throughout 11 counties of the tri-state region. Financial support comes from corporations large and small, foundations, faith communities, the public sector, special event fundraising, and individuals.
The name is likely derived from Manna, the food miraculously produced for the Israelites in the desert in the book of Exodus.
