Metka

METKA (Metallikes Kataskeves Ellados, or Greek Metal Constructions) is a major Greek engineering company founded in 1962, involved in the design and construction of power plants, complex metal structures, defence equipment etc. The Company and its subsidiaries have been involved in the construction of Thermoelectric and Hydroelectric Power Plants (several such projects completed in Greece), as well as upgrading of existing power plants. METKA has built the largest port crane in the world (of its time) in the late 1990s, sold to Holland and assembled mobile platforms for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile launching system through a contract with Raytheon.[1][2]
Major projects carried out by the company since 1965 include design, fabrication and erection of conveyor tracks for cement- lignite- wet and dry ash- bauxite, fabrication and installation of mining equipment (excavators, bucket wheel excavators, and stackers), fabrication of electricity pylons, fabrication and erection of metal supporting frames and systems for bridges, ship launching, loading equipment, and lifting/ transporting platforms.
METKA is currently involved in installing components at a hydroelectric station in Rhodes.[3]
Gross sales for 2006 were 294,146,698 euro.[4]
