Methylococcus capsulatus

Methylococcus capsulatus is a methylotrophic gram-negative bacterium. In addition to methane, M. capsulatus is able to grow on sugars, sulfur and is able to oxidize some non-organic hydrogen containing compounds. In addition, M. capsulatus can live in conditions in which there is little oxygen available. The genome sequence of M. capsulatus is available.
