A metamutant (Homo Superior), according to Amalgam Comics continuity, is a human being with superpowers usually by some form of mutation, or from hereditary status. Most of these powers tend to be powers that would be linked to superheroes, such as laser vision or shapeshifting. The term Metamutant is a combination of the terms Metahuman from DC comics, and Mutant from Marvel comics.
[edit] Racial hatred towards metamutants
Due to their difference from "normal" human beings, metamutants have been the subject of racially-motivated attacks, sometimes out of jealousy like that of Will Magnus (Magneto and the Magnetic Men #1), while others are born entirely out of racial hatred, like that of Brother Brood, who refers to metamutants as infidels (X-Patrol #1).
The controversial Armageddon Agenda Bill, passed in US Congress in 1997, was also an act of racial cleansing against metamutants.
[edit] Links with Atlantis
According to an Atlantean artifact known as the Serpents Crown (JLX #1), the lost world of Atlantis is the homeworld of all metamutants in the world. When the island sank, the metamutants spread across the world and hid among the rest of the world for centuries, interbreeding with their population. The Serpents Crown is the only known artifact to contain keys to the location of Atlantis, so few metamutants have been able to successfully find Atlantis without the Crown.
