Metal Max was the first of a series of RPG Video games. It appeared on the NES in 1991, published by Data East.

Metal Max is set in a futuristic environment, where the surviving humans cluster in villages and ruins and "hunters" fight the monsters and outlaws outside. This title got a sequel, Metal Max 2, and was remade for the Super Famicom as Metal Max Returns.
