Metal Bridge is a small settlement in Cumbria, England on the A74 road between Carlisle and Gretna.

The settlement consists of a few properties clustered around a public house of the same name[1] next to the A74, on the south bank of the River Esk.

The settlement and pub (and nearby forest plantation) derive their name from the metal bridge that spanned the river at this point on the road to Scotland.

The original bridge is now gone, with the current A74 passing over a more modern bridge.[2]

Construction of a motorway standard bypass road is underway, to extend the M6 motorway to the Scottish border.
