[edit] Cat's Eye Galaxy
I just want to know who put this name on Wikipedia. Were is it's orgional sourse. Or did some user just put it on for a jork (or more likley he wants to suggest the name). If you look on the Messier 109's talk, I wright that I suggested a name for it. F.Y.I. to the Cat's Eye guy, I suggested that name to that site. But if you want credit, speek now, or forever hold your peice!

While your motivation (or whoever's motivation) for giving this galaxy a unique name is notable, most people simply do not refer to NGC 4736 as the Cat's Eye Galaxy. It misleads the average reader, and it could cause some confusion with the Cat's Eye Nebula. I'm removing the informal designation. GeorgeJBendo 15:58, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bar and AGN Activity
Two comments related to my 5 Jul 2006 updates:
- The designation of this galaxy as a barred spiral galaxy appears to be slightly inaccurate. The structure is best described as oval.
- Most professional astronomy references refer to this as a LINER galaxy, not a Seyfert galaxy. Maybe I should write a page on LINERs.
