[edit] Biography
At the age of 13, the two founding members of Mesh-29, Adam Mezzatesta and Anthony Shiels, had already began what would become an extensive songwriting partnership[citation needed]. After starting on the pub scene at 16, things soon developed after they were taken on by their first manager, Bernie O'Mahoney[citation needed]. This gave them the confidence to concentrate on their songwriting and live performance. They signed to AMS management in 2005[citation needed]. Subsequently, work began on their debut album, Dead Machine, and began their regular Met Lounge nights in home town Peterborough[citation needed].
The popularity of Mesh-29 grew after being chosen to be a featured artist on myspace.com in early 2006[citation needed]. Later that year they were also featured in the NME as part of their search for the best unsigned bands[citation needed].
Dead Machine received positive reviews in local press[citation needed] and became Peterborough Virgin Megastore's top selling album during its first week of release[citation needed].
In March 2006 they embarked on their first UK tour, supporting bands including Blackbud, The Crimea, and Mohair across England, Ireland and Scotland[citation needed]. In September 2006 Lee Reynolds was recruited as drummer for live shows[citation needed].
In October 2006, the band dismissed their management, split with their label and bought the rights for their album, setting up their own record label, Media Addiction records[citation needed].
In January 2007 Mesh-29 were voted second to Mika in Core Radio's search for the best new music of 2007[citation needed]. Also listed were The Fray and Klaxons[citation needed].
Lee left the band in early July 2007 (shortly after Over the barricade was recorded) when his other band The 925s was signed by a Dutch record label. He was replaced by Dave Jackson (who had played drums on the Dead Machine album)
On July 2, 2007, Mesh-29 released their single "Over The Barricade", which got to number 35 in the UK singles chart[citation needed]. In more recent times, the band has supported Scouting for Girls and Air Traffic among others[citation needed]. They were interviewed (and played three live tracks) on the Janice Long show on BBC Radio 2 on August 30, 2007[citation needed].
Album closer "Alone" has been used on the soundtrack of the MTV series The Hills[citation needed].
They're currently in the mixing stages of their 2nd album which is to be titled 'Secret Traffic'. It's due for release in this summer.
