Mesa was officially incorporated on June 23, 1955. Mesa is a small farming town.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 425 people, 105 households, and 91 families residing in the city. The population density was 268.7 people per square mile (103.9/km²). There were 111 housing units at an average density of 70.2/sq mi (27.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 58.59% White, 0.94% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 28.24% from other races, and 11.76% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 59.29% of the population.
There were 105 households out of which 64.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.4% were married couples living together, 5.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.3% were non-families. 7.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 4.05 and the average family size was 4.15.
In the city the population was spread out with 42.6% under the age of 18, 11.1% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 10.1% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 22 years. For every 100 females there were 105.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 110.3 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $38,750, and the median income for a family was $39,583. Males had a median income of $28,250 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,882. About 9.0% of families and 15.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.4% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
