[edit] Notability

First of all, don't worry about the Notability tag. It puts the article in a category which invites other editors to come improve it. There are editors who like to add wikilinks, to improve the writing style, and so on. They look in a category to choose an article to improve.

WP:ORG defines the primary criterion for an organization's notability. It is not specific about numbers of references, but it does look for multiple, independent references in (e.g.) newspapers. The Stockport Council's web site is a useful reference but it would be better if you could find stories in newspapers or magazines - e.g. a story about the construction or grand opening. As the 'town' centre i would disagree with the notablility tag, however, the list of shops reads more like an advert than a wiki entry. Suggest removing those.

No mention is made of the history, Princess street was the main shopping street unti Merseyway was created. There was a major development about 15 years ago that saw upper walkways removed in the area near to the big Co-Op (Chestergate at one point)GazMan7 (talk) 15:53, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice GazMan7, i am preceding to edit this section accordingly so it is in cited prose and does not read as an advert, you want to help with the edit?, i have also started a history section but at the moment am struggling to find sources for it except the basics that it was opened in 1965 and refurbished in 1995, James50567 (talk) 22:39, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
