Mervyn Arthur Hardie

Mervyn Arthur Hardie (born: July 31, 1918 Regina, Saskatchewan died: October 18, 1961) was a politician from Northwest Territories, Canada.
Mervyn was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in the 1951 Northwest Territories general election as part of the first 3 elected members in the modern era of government in the territory. He served the Mackenzie North constituency for 3 years until he vacated it to run for Federal politics.
In the 1953 Canadian federal election he ran in the new Mackenzie River federal electoral district representing the Liberal Party of Canada. He won comfortable plurality's for three terms in office before passing away on October 18, 1961 vacating his seat. After his death, his wife Isabel Hardie was elected to replace him in the House of Commons.
