Meru (メール Meiru?) is a fictional character from Keroro Gunso the Super Movie 2: The Deep Sea Princess, an anime movie based on the anime and manga series Sgt. Frog.

[edit] Overview
Meru is prince of the Deep Sea, destined to marry Natsumi Hinata, whom he claims to be his princess. Growing up with no memories of his childhood, family, home, nor race, he and Maru (マール Maaru?) as his servant develops a second childhood, filled with loneliness. One night, Meru and Natsumi the kingdom's sacred weapon to uphold their titles with the Mer Ball, a weapon that resembles the Kero Ball. Kururu then reveals that Meru and Maru came from Maron, a planet of water, and Meru would eventually flood Pekopon to become his world. They were saved by the Keroro Platoon together with Fuyuki and Momoka. With the corrupted Mer Ball forever out of the wrong hands, Meru and Maru ultimately fall in love and wish their friends farewell as they start a new life on Maron as prince and princess.
[edit] Physical Appearance
Like all Marons, Meru is ocean blue. He has a horn on his scalp, ears, back, and arms. He has a yellow harpoon-shaped crest. As official prince, Meru becomes taller and more humanoid and his skin reaches past his lower eyes. The horns on his ears moves next of his horn with a smaller one behind it as he also gains leg pads with a yellow edge.
He wears a cape and shoulder pads with black stripes. Overwhelmed by the Mer Ball, he becomes a giant with part of the Mer Ball as his left arm. His eyes become completely green, and his forearms are striped white. He also gains horns on his heels and on his shoulders. A crescent lies at the shoulder horn's edges.
His symbol is shaped like his harpoon cress that becomes larger with a hole at the top and has two hooks.

Maru serves as Meru's servant and bodyguard. Meru usually commands Maru until it has been made known to her that they had somewhere to return to and confronts Meru in order to save him from corruption. With Earth saved from the Mer Ball, Natsumi passes her title to Maru, leaving her and Meru to fall in love and return to Maron to marry.

Destined to marry as prince and princess, Meru and Natsumi develop a close, but more mother-and-son relationship. Meru tended to Natsumi's dreams with the Mer Ball. After regaining their memories of Maron, the fully realised Prince Meru and Princess Natsumi prepare to marry until the Mer Ball corrupts them. Freed from corruption, Meru leaves with the new princess and his true love, Maru.

Meru rarely uses the Mer Ball for combat. However, his feature of choice is the ability to fulfill dreams. When overwhelmed by the Mer Ball, Meru uses his Mer Ball-consumed left arm to fire massive laser beams that rivals that of Hellmageddon 1:1.
