Merritt Ranew

Merritt Thomas Ranew (born May 10, 1938 in Albany, Georgia) is a former Major League Baseball catcher. Ranew played in five seasons for the Houston Colt .45s (1962), Chicago Cubs (1963-1964), Milwaukee Braves (1964), California Angels (1965), and Seattle Pilots (1969). Ranew was selected in the 1961 MLB Expansion Draft by the Colt .45s from the Milwaukee Braves. Merritt's first daughter, Wendy Lee, was born in Seattle January 29, 1967.
