Meromyosin are subunits of myosin formed by trypsin digestion. It comes in two types, heavy meromyosin (HMM) and light meromyosin (LMM).
Light meromyosin - long, straight portion, “tail” region
Heavy meromyosin Protein chain terminating in globular head portion - cross bridge
Essential and regulatory light chains
Actin binding site ATP binding site (myosin ATPase) – determines rate of muscle contraction when muscle is stretched
