Merle Allin is an American bassist and older brother to the late punk rock singer/songwriter/performance artist GG Allin.
Merle had performed in many of GG's backing groups, including The Jabbers and The Murder Junkies, playing bass exclusively. He currently continues the Murder Junkies, his brother's last band, with a new singer, but an otherwise exact lineup (himself, guitarist William Weber III, and drummer Donald "Dino" Saches).
Merle's trademark was his overgrown Hitler style mustache (long since mutuated into a comical 'stache and goatee'). He is also covered in tattoos.[citation needed]
GG claimed that he once gave Merle a blowjob on stage[citation needed]. Footage from the band's Chicago concert appears to support this claim (though Merle is wearing tights). The liner notes of GG's Freaks, Faggots, Drunks and Junkies album contains the claim that Merle and GG had sex.
Merle currently resides in Nutley, New Jersey and spends his time writing music, organizing tours, maintaining his brother's estate (including selling various GG Allin CDs, DVDs and other merchandise through GGAllin.com). He also owns a large collection of American serial killer art work, most notably the John Wayne Gacy painting of his brother that appears on the cover of the Hated soundtrack. He has corresponded with all of the featured serial killers.[citation needed]
He has been married twice; he met his current wife, Michie, while he and GG were at a Butthole Surfers concert.
