Merion Station is an above-ground commuter rail station located at the just outside of the City of Philadelphia at Idris Road & Hazelhurst Avenue, Merion, Pennsylvania 19066.[1] It is served by most R5 Paoli-Thorndale trains with the exception of a few express runs. The station is located in a residential neighborhood. Landmarks within one mile include Episcopal Academy, the Barnes Foundation, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, and Akiba Hebrew Academy. The station is commonly used by both commuters and students. The closest bus connection is SEPTA Route 44, which stops about 3/4 of a mile away at Old Lancaster Rd and Highland Ave, near the Bala Cynwyd Library.

The inbound (to Center City) platform is located at Idris Road & Hazelhurst Avenue. The station building located here has been designated a historic building. SEPTA completed its most renovations of the building's slate tile roof and canopy for Thorndale-bound (west) trains in late 2007. The ticket office at this station is open weekdays 6:15 a.m. to 1:35 p.m. excluding holidays.

The outbound (to Thorndale) platform is located near the intersection of Merion Road and Civic Circle. There are 120 parking spaces at the station. A United States post office is located on the outbound side of the tracks.

This station is in fare zone 2 and is 6.0 track miles from Suburban Station. On an average weekday in 2005, the average total weekday boardings at this station was 4523, up from 2610 in 2003.
