[edit] Mered in Legend

Jewish traditions identify Mered with Caleb, and his wife Bithiah with the foster-mother of Moses.

[edit] Mered in Film

In The Ten Commandments (1956 film), Mered is shown as an admirable man, strong and wise but kind and compassionate. He saves the life of his future wife Bithiah when he stops her from running to interpose herself between the people and the charging chariots - which would certainly have resulted in her death. When the Egyptian army drowns in the returning sea, Mered comforts Bithiah in her grief.
