Mere Green, Birmingham
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mere Green is an area of Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England. It is a small commercial centre on the edge of Sutton Park. The area features a fairly large shopping area, which has a variety of both national chains and privately owned shops. Plans have been outlined for a major redevelopment of the Mere Green shopping area, which would involve the demolition of many of the smaller shops. The scheme by Spring Urban was approved on August 8, 2007.[1]
The area made the news in 1983 when Renée, owner of the then La Gondola restaurant in Mere Green, scored a No 1 hit single in the UK with an Italian singer called Renato, entitled 'Save Your Love'.
