Mercitron

The Mercitron, or mercy machine, was a device created by Dr. Jack Kevorkian to aid in the euthanasia of his patients. It was a rudimentary device consisting of a canister of carbon monoxide attached to a face mask with a hose. The patient would voluntarily engage the release of the gas. Death was estimated to occur 10+ minutes after gas flow was initialized. Janet Adkins was the first person to use the "Mercitron".
