Mercaz Hatorah

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mercaz Hatorah (also known as Mercaz) is a prominent Lithuanian Charedi Talmudic yeshiva in the Talpiot section of Jerusalem. Founded by Rabbi Aryeh Rottman and Rabbi Chaim Kreiswirth zt"l in 1970, it primarily caters to students from the English speaking diaspora. Today it boasts of about 100 students in its scenic campus, containing both a yeshiva gedolah and a kollel and is led by Rabbi Dov Kreiswirth, son of the original founder and Rabbi Aryeh Rottman, the founder's primary disciple, while the Rosh kollel is Rabbi Pinchas Zelivansky, the son-in-law of Rabbi Chaim Kreiswirth. The mashgiach is Rabbi Mordechai Swimmer, a disciple of Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Ruderman zt"l and Rabbi Dovid Kronglass zt"l.

The first-year program possesses three tracks and narrows to two for its second and third year. Many students continue on to the Mir Jerusalem, Ner Yisrael Baltimore and other yeshivos upon their completion of studies in Mercaz Hatorah.
