Not to be an utter pedant here, but wasn't Sukhi Turner a mayor before Meng Foon, and thus was the first mayor of Asian descent? Cheers, Hauser 10:42, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Indeed so - and it's possible she wasn't the first either. IIRC Eve Poole, a former mayor of Invercargill, was Israeli. I've changed the article to something which is a little less questionably worded. Grutness...wha? 06:42, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
