Mentes

In Greek mythology, Mentes is the name of two different Trojan War leaders.

  1. King of the Cicones (according to the Iliad.)
  2. King of the Taphians (according to the Odyssey.)

In Book I of The Odyssey, the Goddess Athena disguises herself as Mentes (son of Anchialus), an old family friend of Odysseus, when she goes to visit his son, Telemachus.
