[edit] Plot

It has been 5 years since the alien-seeking agents averted an intergalactic disaster of epic proportions. Agent K has since returned to the comforts of civilian life while Agent J continues to work for the Men in Black, the self-funded agency that secretly monitors and regulates alien activity on Earth. While investigating a seemingly routine crime, J uncovers a diabolical plot by Serleena, an evil Kylothian shapeshifter who disguises herself as a lingerie model. It's a race against the clock as J must convince K — who not only has no memory of his time spent with the agency, but is also the only person alive who has the expertise to save the galaxy — to reunite with the MIB before Earth is destroyed.

A large part of the plot is given to Agent J's relationship with a woman called Laura, who is a witness to Serleena. Rather than erase her memory, J allows her to retain it. As Laura is pulled deeper and deeper into the battle between Serleena and the MIB, she comes to view Agent J as her protector. Ultimately, Laura is revealed as a semi-divine being known as the Light of Zartha. This revelation requires her to return to Zartha, her ancestral homeworld. Serleena, who has been seeking all along to find and possess the Light of Zartha, is killed just as Laura is transported away. It's implied via dialogue that K may be Laura's father, or possess some other familial relationship.

The end of the movie sees Agent K opening a door, showing our universe to be contained in a massive locker, similar to how there is a city of aliens in Agent K's locker at the subway station.

[edit] Sequel

In 2005, Variety magazine mentioned that Sony was in talks with director Michael Bay to direct Men In Black III, but no other news has been forthcoming. Will Smith has expressed interest in returning for a third film.[2]
