[edit] Newsletter for Wikiproject Aquarium Fishes
Would you like my bot to deliver the Wikiproject Aquarium Fishes newsletter? It seems you usually do it manually. If you want it, just tell me if it's monthly, weekly, or something else, when it's usually delivered, the template the newsletter is on, and if it's subst'ed or not. --R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 18:31, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- And out of curiosity, why is it fishes. I thought the plural of fish was fish. --R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 19:45, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Because there were so many links on the page that had the delivery list, I copied it a subpage, and transcluded it, so it looks the same, but when you click the section edit button for the subscription section, it will go to a subpage. This makes it easier for the bot. --R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 20:01, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:TOL template
Please keeo the discussion at the proposal page to avoid splitting things. I'm working on mock ups to show that the result is not actually "hierarchical" It's mostly to show potential relations for assesment. Circeus 20:50, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Dear Melanochromis. Thank you for pointing out the labelling error. I will do the necessary transfers (from common to comet goldfish). However, I need to know how I could change the image name (from: Whitecommongoldfish... to: Whitecometgolfish...). I can't seem to find a "move button"... Will appreciate it. - Finally able to find time to re-upload this image under its correct image name. Just letting you know. Regards. Dragonbite 04:23, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Look very much like a cyprinodontiform to me, so that's the category I'm using for your image. Another possibility is Beloniformes (something related to ricefish) but this is much less likely. Will get back to you if I can identify the genus or species. Where did you get this one? --Melanochromis 07:19, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

- Hello Melanochromis. Thanks for the reply. The fish was about to be discarded by a friend, but fortunately that friend of mine learned I am keeping aquarium fish. So, I was requested to adopt it. It thrives in my tropical (gouramis) tank. This unidentified fish is a New Yorker. Conclusion to its identity? Dragonbite 12:26, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Please tell me when the current newsletter for WikiProject Aquarium Fishes is done so I know when to deliver it. I was going to do it today (the first pretty soon), but it seems a whole section is missing. --(Review Me) R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 23:26, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please help-Lao language request
Hello! The Wikipedia:Graphic Lab is working on artwork related to Laos, and we need some help to get the proper Lao language text into the artwork. As Thai and Lao are closely-related languages, I ask you to please visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Graphic_Lab/Images_to_improve#Scouting_in_Laos and see if you can help! [edit] Portal:Thailand
Re: Portal:Amphibians and Reptiles, very nice!
As the attendant of a (non-Siamese) cat in Thailand, I just wanted to say I appreciated the featured article selection for this month on Portal:Thailand.
Related to the Portal, one thing I was thinking about was to create another featured element to the portal: Featured lists, rather than listing the lists. It would be a great way to highlight some of the better Thailand-related lists and also encourage their improvement. Even if the lists themselves don't yet include images, it would be pretty straightforward to find Commons images to illustrate the highlighted list, such as national parks, shopping malls, etc. What do you think? — WiseKwai 11:23, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm glad you like the Portal:Amphibians and Reptiles. Feel free to use or expand it.
Re:List. That's an interesting idea and I think it might help motivate editors to improve the Thailand-related lists. Maybe the name "Selected list of the month" would be better than "Featured list" as most of the lists we are going to present won't be featured lists. The real problem is the monthly update. Do we have a lot of good lists? I'm a bit afraid by the fourth or fifth month we'd have ran out of lists of good quality especially if there're no new lists coming in. This is exactly the problem I had with Portal:Cambodia which ran out of good articles and pictures, and I ended using so-so stuff that I wasn't pround of. But we can give still it a try first anyway. I think it's worth trying. I will go ahead and set up the section soon, maybe today, if you don't mind. --Melanochromis 19:56, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

- "Selected list" is a better word choice. If you're willing to set it up and try it, that would be awesome. I'll try to keep my eye out for lists that are worthy of promotion. — WiseKwai 12:07, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- I have created the list and added to portal. We'll see if it works. --Melanochromis 07:35, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

I changed the code in the randomization enabled version to better match the main one, as well as added another article to the list. It looks okay to me now, but feel free to revert or fix if there are problems. Tim Shuba 06:40, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Energy portal review
Hi Melanochromis! Knowing that you have an interest in a portal (as well in its redirect pages!) I wondered if you might like to comment on the one I've been working on - energy portal - which is now under consideration as a featured portal. As of today it has had remarkably few people contributing to the debate, compared to other candidates. If you have time perhaps you would like to take a look? The candidate page can be found here. Regards Gralo 00:54, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I already left my comment at the nomination page. --Melanochromis 06:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Portal:Fishing
Hi there. Just wanted to let you know that the fishing portal needs updates. I just took the liberty of updating it from May2007 to June2007 but this portal is still lagging one month behind though. I think the "July update" could probably go sometime mid-July as soon as there are nominations and votes for new articles. Cheers, --Melanochromis 03:52, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

- Sorry for my late reply... I really had a very bad health problem this past few weeks. Same reason why I was inactive from Wikipedia and other corporate things... Hope you understand. Your help and concern are very much appreciated. Thanks, more power, and good luck! Bu b0y2007 06:29, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fishing Portal Nomination Page
Hi there! It's nice to be contributing back here in Wikipedia (hopefully for good, this time around!)... Anyhow, I have added a new list of nominations in our Fishing Portal Nomination Page, if you have time to cast your vote or make a new nomination list please do not hesitate to visit the page. Thanks! Bu b0y2007 10:51, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fish stubs, and catfiformes...
Thanks for the kind words on the fish stubs; to be honest I was just about tearing my hair out with 'em, and there's one or two issues left to resolve ((in particular with the cichlids), but it's getting there. On the catfish/siluriformes category naming issue: I'd be equally happy with renaming Cat:siluriformes to Cat:catfish, if you want to nominate a rename in that direction, just so long as the stubcat(fish) and permcat aren't gratuitously inconsistent, as at present. Thanks for uploading Image:UTCC logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. [edit] Fish Portal Image
Hi! I was wondering if you would object to uploading the image you created for the fish portal logo onto commons. The reason I ask is that I'd like to add that to my user page there to show an image used as a picture of the month, as I have done on my user page on wikipedia. I could upload it to commons for you if you like. Please let me know. Cheers! --Jnpet (talk) 02:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
