Talk:Melina Perez/Archive 1
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Image removed
I have removed the image entitled 'Melina's signature ring entrance' as the image was putting her page out of order and thus, leaving it with a huge gap in the middle. Also, the rumours about her challenging for the Women's Title have been removed - please do not post spoilers.
There's more to it than this
I'm looking over the article, and I noticed how it only focuses on Melina's run in WWE. In the infobox, it says her other ring names are Kyra and Melanie Little Deer. How'd she come up with those names? Also, she was in OVW for a while. Anybody care to come up with any details of her run with them? --LBMixPro<Speak|on|it!> 03:13, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- I have added some information on Melina's run in other wrestling promotions, I still need to add some more about her run in OVW, feel free to edit the information Fr3nZi3 21:06, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for the info, but it's a copy-paste edit from Melina's official website. Wikipedia considers it a copyright violation, and it needed to be taken out. But what you can do is either re-write it in your own words or summarize it. --LBMixPro<Speak|on|it!> 21:20, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Possible brother?
is the brother that the article mentions possibly Eric Perez, who was recently signed by WWE?
- No, he's not. The reason is because he's puerto rican, and she's mexican-american. --User:Uber Cuber
Random Information
There is an item at the end of the personal details section mentioning that he has booty head syndrome. Im not convinced this is either true or relevant to the article. That and it is poorly spelt. I tried to edit it but it doesnt seem to be there to remove. I am happy to bow to superior knowledge on this one but in the very least it needs spelling correction and then an explanation of what the syndrome is. (82.14.70.8 09:05, 4 December 2006 (UTC))
- Melina is not engaged to John Cena, however she is in a relationship to Johnny Nitro.
Merged
Merged the information about her appearing on Smackdown & RAW in both 2003 and 2004 into one section entitled 'cameo appearances'. :) 124.177.116.124 23:34, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Facebuster
For Melina's one facebuster, I was thinking maybe it could be added a "running spinning kneel-out facebuster" instead of saying it is preceded by running against the ropes. This way is shorter and makes more sense. I would edit it but non-registered users can't edit it. Thanks.
- People! Extreme Makeover and her running facebuster are the same move! her bouncing off the ropes was just a variation of Extreme Makeover, can someone plz fix it!

Signature moves
Whoever that person is that is constantly deleting the frog splash from Melina's moveset, please stop! Melina used the frogsplash in EWF, so you have no right to delete it as it is one of her signature moves!! --Fr3nZi3 17:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, you're right, all finishers should be added, past or present. Though maybe adding "Frog Splash - in EWF" would be better. :) 151.197.218.184 20:46, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
-
- I've noticed that several signature (not finishing) moves that are listed on Melina's page have only been used once. I thought only moves that she has used on a consistent basis should be included, not any new move she pulled out once in one match. Also...I've never found the Frog Splash listed as her finisher on any reputable online profile about Kyra/Melina. Any link that someone can maybe post on the page verifying that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.52.44.140 (talk)

- As for your comments on Melina using the moves once, just shows you dont watch her matches outside the WWE, if you did you would see that she uses all the signature moves in her list. CM Punk doesn't use all the moves on the list he has on his page in ECW, but he has established those moves in the independent circuit. --Fr3nZi3 02:18, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

- That signature moves section needs to be trimmed, it is way too large. TJ Spyke 08:09, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
New finisher
People tend to call it an iverted bulldrop to a split pin, but its technically called a Guillotine Leg Drop. Please stop changing it back to the old name, i have no idea how you even got "Bulldog" out of that manouever.
California Dream or Dreams?
Did King call Melina's inverted STF the California Dream or the California Dreams? I can't remember nor find the video. Can anyone find the video, or remember? 151.197.218.184 03:44, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

- Its technically called "California Dreaming", both Candice and Melina stated something in their own respective blogs. In the spring issue, WWE stated they would like to see The Great Khali and Little Bastard in a movie called Khalifornia Dreamin, a beach party comedy, the name would be a play on Melinas finisher (the article centred around the 29 things WWE is dying to see in WWE, Khalifornia Dreamin was ranked 7 out of 27)

Miss California?
I checked the Miss California and Miss California USA websites and did not see Melina Perez's name listed among the past titleholders. The entry that Melina was named Miss California "in a beauty pageant" therefore needs to be deleted or clarified. Webslinger123 06:44, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- The statement's reference, an interview with her, says "She previously won a Miss California beauty contest." Keyword: a. I'd assume that means that other contests use the name "Miss California." Calaschysm 07:41, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- You very well could be right, which is why I suggested that the entry needs to be clarified if it's not deleted.Webslinger123 00:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Candice Michelle blog
Can someone remove the thing about Candice stating Melina took her move? It shouldn't be there. Not that it matters, but Melina had the move first anyways. 141.151.85.108 20:55, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah I have taken the pleasure of deleting that rubbish, Candice Michelle is such a loser! Noone in their right mind wold steal a move from her, she can't even wrestle anyway! Melina used it WAY before her. --Fr3nZi3 23:43, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- Melina responded to Candice's claims on her own blog on WWE.com. Should the entire thing be re-included in the article along with Melina's comments?
-
-
- Not necessary, that'll take up way too much space, and it is not a major thing needed on an encylcopaedia.--Fr3nZi3 02:14, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Out Of Order
In the Smackdown section, I believe there is an error where it lists Melina defeated Christy Hemme before the Interpromotional battle royal on the Eddie Guerrero tribute. I recall the battle royal happening first, and the Melina/Christy match happening a week before the Melina/Trish survivor series match. Also, I remember in the Melina/Trish match, Tazz stated "That's the move that Melina knocked Christy out with last week!" after Melina did a facebuster to Trish, which would mean the match between Melina and Christy had to be after the battle royal. That may seem confusing because of my poor explaining.. But yeah. If someone could edit it since it's protected, that'd be cool. Thanks in advance. 141.151.85.108 23:56, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- They had two different singles contests: one in October I believe, leading up to the 6 person tag at No Mercy and again before her first Women's title match. Melina won both singles matches.
Finisher
Melina's finisher was also the Divastator and Kyranium Buster while in the Independents. It's listed under her signature moves, so can someone change them to the finishers and put " - Independent Curcuit" next to it? If you need proof, she says it on her GLORY profile, on Glorywrestling.com. Thanks. 141.151.85.108 21:15, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- So, can someone add it? Lol, here's the link to it.. http://www.glorywrestling.com/gg/Kyra/K.asp 141.151.85.108 22:02, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
-
- It's really not necessary. Wrestlers have used a variety of finishers early in their careers that are eventually reduced to just being signature or set-up moves in their matches years later. Lita's Twist of Fate is a good example.
-
-
- K, I was thinking it should because the Frog Splash is there and she stopped using that. Thanks. 141.151.85.108 19:43, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- I object to the fact that the Frog Splash is even there, as she used it in one particular indy event and not mentioned in any other source, but a regular editor insisted that it should be there, and there is footage on youtube to back it up.

Melanie Little Deer?

Page needs protecting
Just one or two days of the page being open for all to edit, and vandals have gone crazy with vandalising it. Can someone please protect this page so experienced wikipedia editors can edit it, and not vandals with nothing better to do with their time. Also someone removed the free image of Melina and replace it with another, and someone keeps adding "Nava" as her middle name with no evidence to back it up.--Fr3nZi3 03:16, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Frog Splash, should it be moved to signatures list?
Should the Frog Splash be moved to Melina's signature moves list? Because she has more moves on her signatures list that she used to use, and if all old finishers were added the list would be huge. So I think it should just be left with her three current finishers and put Frog Slash under signatures with "- Independent Curcuit" next to it. Anyone agree? 141.151.85.108 17:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- If anything it should say her current finishers and signature moves, yes the frog splash may have been 1 but its still an old move of hers, there are to many moves to put there or else it will be massive and in the way of whats real inportant on the page. --Deathtopplintheir40s 11:36, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Wrestlemania
Should the article include that she will participate in the first ever "Lumberjill" match in Wrestlemania? Or should we wait until it happens? It was announced tonight (March 26) on Raw Julie 02:17, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- We need to wait until it happens. Cheers, Bmg916 Speak to Me 02:18, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
This is not supposed to be a Melina fan shrine
Melina Perez's wikipage is turning more and more into a fan-worship page as time passes. This has to end.
- There should be no insinuations of how Melina is supposed to be this miracle of an athlete: for example, quoting an obscure fansite's newsitems that claimed EWF officials at one point felt that Melina had more ability then any of their other female students, without direct quotes from identified EWF officials themselves. Her ability in the ring speaks for itself to fans who watch her in action (for that matter she's a decent worker, but not even in the league of some of the greatest women wrestlers who have worked for the WWF/WWE). I didn't see anyone insinuating on Trish Stratus' page that she has this second-to-none ability of improving leaps and bounds in the ring within a few years, even though she is widely regarded as such even by non-fans.
-
- There is also an issue with her ridiculously LONG list of supposed signature moves. This is about a select number of notable moves that she tends to use over and over again...not her entire moveset. It should also be noted that Melina has yet to wrestle as many matches as some of her better established peers, so the chances of her establishing a recurring pattern of familiar moves will only come as she is involved in more drawn-out and complex matches. Editors, please ensure that the movelist is trimmed, in spite of the amount of garbage one particular editor keeps trying to add in.
Ring Names
1. When was Melina called "Melanie Little Deer"? Is there a source? 2. Is it possible that we can make it so that "Kyra" redirects here, since Kyra was her ring name for a long time. 70.16.133.35 20:06, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Married?
I'm hearing rumors that she is married to Nitro. Anyone have a way to verify? Also, i'm hearing rumors that she was in an adult movie. Again, looking for sources.Sephiroth storm 22:55, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- No shes not married! Jerry "The King" Lawler and Jim Ross said it on television once during one of her matches! I dont believe that she was in an adult movie because of what she says about playboy and being nude!
- yeah i doubt that she was in an adult movie, but i wish she was. but she acts all weird about posing nude so i doubt she'd do more then that. --Deathtopplintheir40s 11:39, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

FACEBUSTER -- Not "Melina Buster"
While the SVR2007 might have her spinning facebuster named the Melina Buster, like the debate always on the Lita discussion section, moves in the games are not the real names. It has never been called a Melina Buster on TV or WWE.com. The SVR2007 game doesn't even call it a Melina Buster, only the website does. Until it is called that by commentators or listed on WWE.com, it should remain simply a "Charging spinning facebuster". 70.16.133.35 16:02, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Inverted Bulldog vs Inverted DDT: Finisher on 6-18-07
First and foremost, I believe the move she used was an inverted leg drop bulldog. Look at Big Show and Matt Sydal, they use the same moves and it's listed on their pages as an inverted leg drop bulldog. For those of you who believe it is an inverted DDT, how can you argue the precedence? One such user noted in the edit summary that "a bulldog drops on face/chin and inverted DDTs drop on the back of head, therefore inverted DDT;" no one is arguing her move is a standard bulldog. It's listed as an inverted bulldog because the victim is facing the opposite direction. Therefore, rather than being dropped on their face, they're dropped on the back of the head. Lastly, look at the article for the inverted leg drop bulldog. It explicitly says, An inverted version of this sees the attacking wrestler drop the opponent on the back of their head. This can be achieved by first holding an opponent in an inverted facelock or by simply grabbing the opponent and forcibly leaning them back before lifting one of their legs over the opponent's head and dropping to a sitting position. Sounds like Melina's new move to me. In all reality, we're just interchanging the terms "DDT" and "bulldog;" if you look at the section of DDT in Pro wrestling throws, it explains the DDT is similar to the bulldog. We're both right, but I think we should stick with inverted bulldog over inverted DDT due to the precedence and because the link associated with bulldog has a description of her move.
- As an aside, I wonder if it's even necessary to add the move on her page. She's only finished one match with it as of now, so maybe we should wait until she uses it more often. I don't know what's the standard practice for adding a new finisher. WikiFew 20:42, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
-
- Personally, I don't think it should be included at all. Like you said, she has only used it once. A move shouldn't be added to anyone's list until they use it regularly. Nikki311 20:44, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- A great explanation WikiFew, but with the variations you mentioned, they do not grab their opponent in an inverted headlock to begin the move, which Melina clearly did, which makes the move she did a DDT. But since there is precedence, and an explanation for changing the name of the move, it shall remain, I was just against people changing the name without any explanation, which looked to be vandalism. - I think it should be a DDT because wouldnt an inverted bulldog be like in Matt Hardy's "Side Effect" move position? Because if you turn the opponents body the opposite to make a bulldog inverted, its not the same position as Melina's move. Anyone understand what Im saying? 70.16.133.35 22:46, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Lead section
The lead section should be rewritten. It doesn't comply to WP:LS in the sense that it introduces new information that isn't in the actual article. All the text about her (former) ring entrance and its description should be removed and the introduction should discuss more about her career and life outside of wrestling. - Deep Shadow 07:53, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Pictures
Yea this page needs some new pics. I mean she looks like she has no make-up on and her skin is very oily. And that second pic, bad picture. It doesn't even fit in. 75.7.250.218 05:11, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Since When?
Since when is Melina's finisher a Guillotine leg drop? Her finsher is an Inverted Leg Drop Bulldog. Get it right! 75.8.54.152 19:54, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, then tell me who EVER called it an inverted leg drop bulldog. J.R called it a guillotine leg drop, WWE.com's results called it a Guillotine Leg Drop. and how in the bloody world did you get "Bulldog" from a leg drop? ppl use their arms for bulldog AND they use it from behind their necks. ppl stop changing it!
-
- JR also calls Mickie James DDT and Impaler DDT, when it is clearly not, JR has also called Lita's moonsault, the Litacanrana--should we change those too? JR makes a lot of mistakes, yes the move is a leg drop, but it is an inverted leg drop bulldog, which is what it is called on Big Show's and Matt Sydal's pages.
Because JR says something, doesn't make it right. The move is an inverted leg drop bulldog, or a modified split-legdrop reverse DDT...anyone who changes it is a vandal. --Fr3nZi3 19:16, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Signature Moves
A lot of them need to be removed because the section is too big and has a lot of moves that don't belong there like. Standing headscissor takedown variations - hasn't done it a lot Giant swing - did it 2 or 3 times only Modified Rope hung Boston crab - again only 1 or 2 times Inverted DDT - did it only 1 time Flying double axe handle - I've seen it only once Pendulum backbreaker submission - hasven't seen her do this ever Oh and the Extreme Makeover finisher was used only once and it shouldn't be there. Her other finishers have been done a lot more times. What are your opinions?
80.80.140.50 07:55, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- Leave her finishers, she has them and she will use them whenever shes at the right position (California Dream - opponent on floor)
(Extreme Makeover - Opponent running) (Guillotine Leg Drop - Standing manouever) Leave Giant Swing and inverted DDT, i guess everything else in the list above can go bye bye
-
- I meant the turnbuckle climb Extreme Makeover that she did to Maria once.Only once. She has done the California Dream/Kyrapractor outside the WWE.She has used the Guilotine Leg Drop 3 times. And she has done her running facebuster on Smackdown a lot.So I think that the Extreme Makeover should be removed.I'm removing those signature moves that aren't needed. Also I was wondering if the Snap Suplex should be removed.Another thing I noticed is that someone added two moves that she did to Candice at the GAB and they are Cross-arm split-leg rear mat slam and Split leg shoulder neckbreaker. As far as I know she used those only once so they shoudn't be added as signature moves just yet.
