Melvin Sanders
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Melvin Sanders (born January 3, 1981 in Liberal, Kansas) is a professional basketball player. He played most recently for the NBA's San Antonio Spurs but was waived on Oct 26, 2006.
A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Sanders, a guard and forward, has primarily played for the NBA Development League's Fayetteville Patriots during the 2005-06 NBA season, between 10-day contract stints with San Antonio. After his fourth such contract (including training camp) expired, on March 26, 2006, the Spurs signed Sanders for the remainder of the season.
After being included in the summer league roster of the San Antonio Spurs, Melvin Sanders was sidelined of the Spurs roster and thus cut by the texan team on October 26, 2006. He still trained with the pro team however. On January 8, 2007, signed with the french team Élan Béarnais Pau-Orthez, for which Sanders will only play Euroleague games, as long as the team is still qualified in the competition. Meaningsworth was Gordon Herbert, currently coach of Pau-Orthez, Melvin Sanders's assistant coach in the Spurs summer league camps.
