Melissa Downes

Melissa Downes is a reporter and presenter with National Nine News in Brisbane and is the regular anchor of the 6pm news on weekends.
Melissa originally worked with rival Seven News where she was a reporter and later presenter of the station's now defunct Gold Coast news bulletin. She also co-hosted a live 5pm magazine show and was a back-up presenter for the main Seven News service in Queensland.
After joining Nine is 2001, Melissa reported on the road and acted as fill-in presenter of the weekend news before assuming that role full-time in 2006. She is also a reporter with the local show 'Saturday Afternoon'.
Currently Melissa is presenting the Gold Coast news while Jillian Whiting is on maternity leave.
