Melinda Haynes (born 1955) is an American novelist.
She grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was a painter for much of her adult life, and her writing is intimately connected with the Mississippi of the 1950s and the 1960s.
In June of 1999, her first novel, Mother of Pearl was chosen to be a member of Oprah's Book Club. The novel also was a New York Times' Best Seller.
Melinda Haynes resides in Mobile, Alabama with her husband, Ray.
