Melgaço (pron. IPA: [mɛɫ'gasu]) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 238.1 km² and a total population of 9,579 inhabitants (2006).
The municipality is composed of 18 parishes, and is located in the district of Viana do Castelo. It is the northernmost municipality in Portugal.
The present Mayor is António Rui Esteves Solheiro, elected by the Socialist Party.
The municipal holiday is Ascension Day.
