Melena del Sur is a municipality and city in the La Habana Province of Cuba.
It was founded in 1768.[1]
The Municipal Park (Parque Municipal de Melena del Sur) is a National Monument of Cuba.[4]

In 2004, the municipality of Melena del Sur had a population of 20,445.[3] With a total area of 227 km² (87.6 sq mi),[2] it has a population density of 90.1/km² (233.4/sq mi).
The municipality is divided into the barrios of Bayamo, Charcas, Costa de Guara, Costa de Melena, Lechugas, Navío, Ponce, Pueblo, Pueblo de Guara, Ruiz and San Julián.[1]
