Melanie Hill (born January 11, 1962) is an English actress.

She replaced Gilly Coman as the character of Aveline in the last two series' of Carla Lane's BBC television sitcom Bread. She has also appeared in such programmes as The Bill playing Marie Carver (née Graham), Auf Wiedersehen, Pet playing Hazel Redfern, Juliet Bravo playing Jean Simpson, and Cape Wrath playing Brenda Ogilvie. She also appears as a witch in the 2007 film Stardust.

She attended RADA in London where she won the Vanburgh award. Hill married English actor Sean Bean in February 1990. The couple share two daughters, Lorna October 1987 and Molly September 1991, but divorced in August 1997.

She is a big football fan and grew up supporting Sunderland AFC. Despite occasionally accompanying Bean to Sheffield United matches during their marriage, she still supports the team and is rumoured to hold a season ticket in the East Stand of the Stadium of Light, according to local fanzine A Love Supreme.
