Melanie is a song performed by "Weird Al" Yankovic in which the lyricist stalks a girl named Melanie who "lived across the street on the fifteenth floor of the Gailmore building". The lyricist asks many times "why won't you go out with me". By the end of the song, he commits suicide by jumping from a sixteenth story window above her.
