Mel Schacher

Mel Schacher (born April 3, 1951) is the bassist for rock band Grand Funk Railroad. Prior to joining with Don Brewer and Mark Farner to form Grand Funk in 1968, Schacher played bass for Question Mark and the Mysterians.
After Grand Funk disbanded in 1977, Schacher formed "Flint" with former Grand Funk bandmates Brewer and Craig Frost.
Schacher rejoined Grand Funk Railroad during their reunion tour in 1996 and, despite significant lineup changes following Farner's return to a solo career, continues to tour and perform with the band today.
Schacher is best known for his playing style, known as "lead bass".
