[edit] Re: "George 'Fowokan' Kelly"

Removed notability warning. Kelly's work is well known and highly respected among the African-Caribbean arts community in Britain. He is not a big self-publicist, but despite that, he has received numerous public commissions over the years and his work has been exhibited in the British Museum and the Royal Academy of Art, amongst many other venues, including the Studio Museum in Harlem. Despite his reticent nature, Google records over 400 references to his name - which, in my view, is notable. That this self-taught, former postman continues to practice and be exhibited well into his 70s also seems noteworthy. Admittedly, Kelly is not exactly a 'Pokemon' character in terms of global fame and cultural significance, but as a serious visual-arts practitioner from Britain's Jamaican community, he certainly deserves a mention. Hope this allays your fears.Mekatoid (talk) 13:14, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
