[edit] notability of individual meinichim

The list of famous meinichim was not considered "notable" by another member, who removed it. The main reason that meinichim are usually not "notable" is that they made almost no fuss about themselves, seeing themselves as merely transcribers of the Rebbes' words. They did usually not even sign their names, but simply signed as "the Ma'areches" (editorial board). However, some are famous for their work in Chabad circles. Just to lend an uninvolved third opinion, it does not appear that the names you added to the article are of notable people. They may be notable in some circles, as you mention, but for the purposes of Wikipedia there is specific definition of notability outlined at WP:BIO. Basically, people are considered notable if independent articles have been written about them (not merely articles mentioning them) among other things. The sources you provide do not establish notability for the names; they should not be mentioned in the article. I will remove them. --Spike Wilbury 20:30, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
