Mei (Chinese: ; pinyin: Méi) is a Chinese surname, transcribed in the Mandarin dialect. In Hong Kong and other Cantonese-speaking regions, the name may be transliterated as Mui.

The Mei came from the Zhi family. They were awarded a kingdom in the southeast of Hao County in Anhui. The Duke of Mei was known as Mei Bo. During King Zhou's reign in the Shang Dynasty, Duke Mei Bo pleaded repeatedly to Zhou to repent from his cruelty. This angered King Zhou who beheaded Mei Bo. Mei Bo's descendants began to assume the last name Mei to commemorate this righteous Duke.

The Mei ancestral hometown is located 60 miles southeast of Ru'nan in Henan.
