Mehta Kalu

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kalu Mehta was a Hindu by faith, a Khatri by caste of the Bedi clan, he worked an accountant of land revenue in the government. Kalu Mehta was the father of Guru Nanak Dev, founder of Sikhism. Sikhism teaches universal brotherhood and initially taught noble principles of social equity in a society which was riddled with class and caste and low standard of living for lower caste denominations.

Kalu Mehta is the tree from which the seeds of Sikhism emanated in the form of the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
