Meheri people who inhabit Somalia are mainly of the Bin Neebir sub-clan (Mohamud Salah, ,Hassan Salah, Omar Musse and others ), Bin Mashowle (Reer Cali Siciid, Reer Canshuur), Bin Jidxi (Reer Cawad, Reer Taabid), Bin Cantun and Bin Cafreer. The Meheris are resourceful merchants who took lions share in finding and establishing most of urban Somali communities (cities & towns) and overall advancement of Somali civilization.

It is well known fact that prominent Meheri business people reside in the centre of town and cities of Somalia from coast to coast. Their contribution to the country is of immense proportions comparing to size of this noble community. The Meheri are a remnant of the ancient indigenous language group settled in the southern Arabian Peninsula before the spread of Arabic.
