[edit] Biography
Born to a poor family, Solomon was the youngest of three, and frequently was picked on for being the youngest. At the age of 9, Solomon was exposed to the 'sweet melody' of Slipknot's self-titled album, and would never forgot the words, "Fuck it all, fuck this world, fuck everything that you stand for."
He started getting into darker music as time progressed, and as he grew he began listening to Murderdolls, Wednesday 13, then Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13. As of 2008, Ach has acquired a wide array of music in many genres that influence his music playing type such as metal from Slipknot, Metallica and Trivium, rock from Stone Sour, Dope and Serj Tankian, and horror punk from Wednesday 13, Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13, Maniac Spider Trash, Trashlight Vision and Michale Graves.
[edit] Personal life
Ach's personal life does not include exceptionally prominent events. At the age of 4 he learned how to skate, but has never learned how to ride a bike. At the age of 12 Ach lost his virginity to an Amanda Jannsen; out of awkwardness, neither have spoken to each other since. Later at the age of 14, Ach became an Atheist on account of all the misdemeanors occurring all around the world. He began questioning, "If there was a God, why would he let all this shit happen; the rise of an Anti-Christ, famine, war, and death. Hey wait, aren't those the four signs of the Apocalypse? Think about it."
On December 29, 2007, Ach acquired his first guitar, by which he learned music from bands such as, but not limited to Wednesday 13, Metallica and Marilyn Manson.
On April 29, 2008, Ach drank Jägermeister for his first time, which he then "fell in love with," certain to drink it again in the future. As of May 2008, Ach has been letting his hair grown in for nearly a full year, and will continue to do so.
[edit] Origins of the nicknames
- Solie – After the passing of his grandmother in the Summer of 1996, Ach and his family moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario, and during the Fall his sister Tina began to call him Solie, a nickname that would remain to this day.
- Big Bird – During Fall of 2001, Ach wore a yellow sweater to school, causing an anonymous person to yell, "Big Bird", a reference to the classic Sesame Street character.
- Elmo – An anonymous girl at Clayton Brown Public School, began to call him Elmo, a reference to the classic Sesame Street character, due to the fact that he had the tendency to wear a red sweater; the nickname never stuck.
[edit] Career
[edit] In music
By Summer 2006, The Heretics' guitarist and founder Solomon Ach began writing horror-inspired lyrics for an album that would eventually be tentatively titled Ghouligan's Island, a pun on the title of the popular sitcom Gilligan's Island. Over the next year he would continue casually writing lyrics inspired apparently by his influences such as the works of horror rock musician Wednesday 13. By August 2007, talks of a collaboration between he and longtime friend and musician Vixen Windstorm began to take place. Windstorm made a proposition to produce Ghouligan's Island, with the possibility of a musical contribution to the album. Further talks led to the conclusion that Windstorm would perform bass, vocals and possible additional guitar duties as a session musician. He may also perform syncussion as well. It was around this time that Windstorm contributed lyrics to Ach for use in the opening track from the upcoming album, titled "Apacghoulypse Now", a pun on the title of the 1979 war film Apocalypse Now.
Ghouligan's Island is currently set for a December 21, 2012 release. Initially only scheduled for an unspecified release in 2012, this specified release date was chosen by Vixen Windstorm on the basis that it has been suggested by the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar in many New Age articles and books that this will be the end of this creation, the next pole shift or something else entirely. What "the end of this creation" means exactly is absolutely unknown.
Also in August 2007, Ach revealed plans on recording a double cover album which would also act as the band's sophomore studio album, following their debut album Ghouligan's Island to be released on December 21, 2012. Originally set for a 2014 release, by mid August 2007 Ach had come to abandon the idea of The Great COVER-Up due to the planned recording and release schedule of his dark wave side project, Caramycins, in Fall 2014 (which has since been scrapped; The Great COVER-Up's release at a later time is now being reconsidered). Granted that it is recorded, this will be The Heretics' first album to feature Ach performing lead vocals, and pending the reaction from fans, if he will reprise vocal duties on subsequent albums by the band. The album is set to feature cover versions of songs by bands including Slipknot, Metallica, Wednesday 13, Stone Sour, Trashlight Vision, and Bob Seger. Unlike with The Heretics' planned debut album Ghouligan's Island, there are no talks as of yet regarding whether or not Windstorm will produce The Great COVER-Up, but the possibility is not absolutely ruled out at this time. Also unlike the band's debut album, where he will also perform session vocals and bass for the band, Windstorm's potential contribution to this record at all is uncertain as of yet.
In mid 2007, with the now common assistance of Windstorm, Ach conceived the idea of a dark wave side project, soon after dubbed "Caramycins" (pronounced "Carry My Sins"). Prior to the establishment of the project, Ach had been writing lyrics unrepresentative of The Heretics, and so under the album name, now entitled Words of a Pessimistic Poet, Caramycins was born. The album, in its writing process, was initially scheduled for a Fall 2014 release. As of late 2007, Ach has laid to rest the Caramycins project to concentrate on The Heretics. Caramycins hasn't been ruled out completely however, as Ach is still considering to release a dark wave record. This decision has brought the recording of The Heretics' planned sophomore release, The Great COVER-Up, back into consideration since its abandoning in August 2007. "With this does this leave an opening for The Great COVER-Up to be put into action, I think it's a possibility."
On March 18, 2008, Ach announced that the track listing for The Great COVER-Up is not finalized as of yet, and may see changes in the future. One month later, he reworked the album's concept from influential bands to a variety of other bands that have interested him. He also mentioned that the track listing for The Great COVER-Up has still not been finalized.
In recent months, Ach has been hard at work practicing his guitar work, vastly improving his skills. He has also been continuing work on The Heretics' Ghouligan's Island, having completed the lyrics to fourteen songs from the album; no tablature has been recorded as of yet. In the late hours of May 27th 2008 Ach has come up with three song title for his upcoming project Substance titles included are "My Thoughts", "The Devils Words" and "Carpe Diem".

[edit] Green Day
Even though he has never met the band, Ach expresses dismay for American rock band Green Day. After hearing vocalist Billy Joe Armstrong's ill comments towards Slipknot, one of Ach's most influential bands, his response was, "Fucking Green Day, motherfucking sell-outs. They shouldn't say anything about the way Slipknot sounds when they sound like a bunch or premature teens that wish they had the success Slipknot has without selling out. And they couldn't hold a candle to Slipknot..."
[edit] Fred Durst
Similarly, Ach's response to Limp Bizkit vocalist Fred Durst inconsiderate comments towards Slipknot's fans was, "Fucking Fred Durst rags on Slipknot's fans, at least they have fucking fans you fucking dick with no talent."
[edit] Mushroomhead
Ach's words against Mushroomhead's comments in regards to Slipknot will not be posted, on account of if they were he could be arrested for killing a man with words.
[edit] Cyril Huntinghawk
Ach and acquaintance Cyril Huntinghawk have allegedly been feuding for some time, with Huntinghawk even recently vandalizing the personal life section of Ach's Wikipedia biography. Ach, wishing to bring attention to the slander used the example of the aforementioned Amanda, who Huntinghawk proclaimed "never existed," and that Ach instead lost his virginity to "a pack of loose dogs running around the reserve and someone named Savio." Ach responded to this saying, "That is not true and Cyril is a homophobic homosexual. He teases others about being gay to try and hide his preferred sexuality towards males, but it's not working. There was an incident recently in the back seat of a vehicle, where sat from right to left was I, Cyril and [my cousin] Jamie. Cyril 'just happened' to squeeze my knee which he held for what felt like five seconds, which isn't long, but his excuse for doing so was he thought it was his own knee. So tell me, how long would it take to differentiate your own knee from another person's twice your size? Not long right? One second at most, but Cyril held his hand there for five seconds, so I now rest my case: Cyril is a homophobic homosexual." Ach also apologizes to anyone who has been offended by the remarks made by himself or Huntinghawk.
Huntinghawk later defended himself of the accusations and issued an apology.
