As of 2001 India census[2], Meghraj had a population of 9891. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Meghraj has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 65%. In Meghraj, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Name of city comes from temple of Hindu relogios goddess Meghai Mata. Temple of Meghai Mata is situated little far away from Meghraj. Near Meghraj Vatrak River is flowing.
