[edit] Biography

McCain is the oldest daughter of John McCain and Cindy Hensley McCain.[1] She has been a public figure for most of her life, appearing at the 1996 Republican National Convention.[3] She was raised in Phoenix, Arizona and attended Columbia University, where she majored in art history. McCain originally planned to become a music journalist, and interned at Newsweek magazine and Saturday Night Live.[4] McCain later decided to pursue fashion design,[5] and has said that she hopes to one day design a "a high-end couture line that goes up to plus sizes."[1]

Meghan McCain's blog, McCain Blogette, has received mixed reviews.[3][6]

McCain has described herself as an independent who is "liberal on social issues",[1][4] and has said that she voted for John Kerry during the 2004 presidential election.[4] She has said that she now agrees with her father's stance on the Iraq War, as well as his positions on global warming and stem-cell research.[1]
