Megatexture (roads)

Megatexture (MeTx) is a family of road surface damages with wavelengths from 50 mm up to 500 mm. It contributes to aural pollution from traffic. MeTx also contribute to poor friction, as it cause variance in the tire normal load. Road agencies monitor MeTx by measurements involving highway speed laser/inertial profilometers.
