The Megaderma lyra is a species of bat. It is like the Spectral Bat. However, it lives in Asia and along with Vampyrum spectrum and other bats of the genus Megaderma, are known as false vampires.
It is from 6.5-9.5cm long. Also like the Spectral Bat, they have no tail. Their fur colour is bluish grey except on the underside which is brownish grey. It is smaller than the Spectral Bat. Its ears are, like most bats', large.
The species is found in South Asia and Southeast Asia including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, China and the Philippines. It roosts in caves. It hunts during the dusk.
