Meet Market is the fourteenth episode in the seventh season of the popular American crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, set in Las Vegas, Nevada.

[edit] Summary

Nick, Greg, and Keppler are called to a car shop to investigate a murder/arson - the burnt body of Ross Netty, an employee and ex-convict, lies on the floor. At the morgue, Keppler and David discover that the body has been stapled shut; further investigation reveals that the bones have been replaced with pipes, broomsticks, and umbrellas, and that much of the body's tissue is missing. Doc Robbins speculates that only the tissues and bones were taken because tissue harvesting is less heavily regulated than organ harvesting.

Brass, Sara, and Warrick are called to a house where Margo Dorton lies dead on the floor. Warrick and Sara notice a void in the blood spatter on the sofa and hypothesize that a third person was in the room. They find a valet ticket in Margo's purse and a pink synthetic hair on her body; Warrick follows a blood trail to the bathroom and finds vomit on the toilet and a circular blood transfer on the bathroom floor. They realize that the champagne bottle near Margo is the murder weapon.

Sara and Warrick trace the valet ticket to a club called the Over-Under Cabaret and meet Cotton Candy, a stripper who wears a pink wig. She admits to fighting Margo the night before because Margo was spending too much time with Cotton Candy's fiance, Jesse, who works upstairs. Sara questions Jesse and learns that he is a host for a host club, providing companionship for women. Both Cotton Candy and Margo were "relationships" of his.

Keppler fingerprints the burnt body and discovers that it is actually the corpse of Roger Lapinsky, who died about a week prior. Keppler and Nick exhume Lapinsky's coffin and find that the body is missing. They also discover blood drops in the coffin, and trace the DNA back to a Heidi Sultz. Keppler and Sofia visit Heidi and find Ross Netty, who explains that he and Heidi faked his death by digging up a corpse that resembled him and burning it - he was looking for a fresh start. He claims to know nothing about the missing tissue.

Grissom writes a letter to Sara telling her he misses her. He pauses as he writes her address; it is unclear whether he is reconsidering sending the letter or has simply forgotten her address.

Cotton Candy's alibi checks out, as does Margo's husband's. Sara and Warrick are confused by the facts of their case, wondering why a woman in a happy marriage would spend thousands of dollars on a fake boyfriend who she wasn't having sex with. They also speculate about what caused the void on the sofa, and Sara returns to the scene to search for an object that could have created it. She discovers a bloody photo album; when Margo was killed, the album was opened to a photo from 1987 of Margo holding an infant. Margo's husband identifies the child as Margo's son - Margo gave him up to his biological father when she was 17 years old. They had recently learned that the boy had run away from his father and had spent his childhood in the foster system.

Sofia and Nick visit Longevity Tissue Services, a tissue procurement agency, and get Lapinsky's records and body parts. The records show that Lapinsky's remains were handled by Silver Hills Mortuary. Keppler visits the mortuary and collects Lapinsky's records, which show that he died of cardiac arrest. However, Doc Robbins calls Keppler to let him know that Lapinsky died of leukemia. Keppler and Nick realize that the mortician at Silver Hills has falsified dozens of death records and collected tissue from the corpses to sell to Longevity Tissue Services. The director of Longevity denies any responsibility for the deaths that were caused by contaminated and diseased tissue.

Sara and Warrick confront Jesse with the fact that his DNA was found in the vomit on Margo's toilet. They have also learned that Margo invited Jesse to her home that night, not to have sex with him, but rather to tell him that she is his mother. She had hired a private investigator to find him; she showed him the picture in the photo album as evidence, and Jesse reacted by attacking her with the champagne bottle. Jesse believed that Margo was lying to him, as many of his "relationships" would say anything to spend more time with him. However, Sara tells him that his DNA has 13 alleles in common with Margo, meaning that Margo was telling the truth.

Keppler receives an invitation to a memorial service for an Amy McCarty, a 26-year-old who died in 1985. On the back of the invitation is a note that reads "We missed you this year kiddo. Be well, Fr. Anthony". At the end of his shift, Keppler visits the morgue and looks at a corpse - in his mind's eye, the corpse transforms into the body of Amy and he hears a whisper calling his name.
