[edit] Dan100
I'm interested in doing mediation, one case at a time. I've done mediation before informally via RfCs, but I'm interested in raising the effectiveness of the Medcom by working for it. I helped spring-clean the mediation process earlier this year. Dan100 (Talk) 20:10, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Mediation Committee:
- Very Strong Support Very good mediator, I work with him at Cabal Mediation room where he is the current leader. I trust him. Bonaparte talk 13:43, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
Neutral, though very much willing to support. I'd like to see at least one RFC where you believe you've informally mediated. Ral315 (talk) 20:16, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

- I've done a few - Talk:Pan Am flight 103 and Talk:Dynamic theory of gravity are two that I remember... Dan100 (Talk) 11:07, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose, and oppose assigning Dan100 to a deputy mediatorship. Some of his edits on Wikinews, while possibly true, make me question his ability to perform dispute resolution. Ral315 (talk) 21:11, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- Ah, you're the guy that had the chutzpah to refuse to answer the standard questions in your Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Dan100. :-) Certainly a gusty move. Would you mind explaining why you did so, and then answer question number three now? Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future? Thanks a lot! Flcelloguy (A note?) 22:58, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose for now; I don't think now is the time. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 22:52, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

- Sure, although I was only the following the lead of someone else (I forget who). I hate those standard questions, I'd rather see people just write their own little statement on why they want admin rights. But even more so, in RfAs it boils down to "do I trust this person?", and (I hope!) people take into account a lot more than just the answers to those questions.

- But to answer number three, the only dispute that I recall was on Weight training back at Easter. I think Taxman commented on that in my RfA vote. Dan100 (Talk) 11:07, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- Comment: I had not known about Dan's edits on Wikinews, anyone willing to show me an actual example of misdeeds I keep hearing about? Redwolf24 (talk) 11:30, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
-
- Lol, I never said I've not been in any disputes. I've been in lots! But I've also sorted out plenty of others. For example, after which Paul's behaviour improved no end.

- Bear in mind that Wikinews was (still is) a young site with few experienced editors which made it a favourite among PoV pushers, especially those who couldn't get away with the PoV pusing here. Dan100 (Talk) 21:40, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- Nevertheless, your response was written in a very negative way...believe it or not, it is possible to highlight 'bullying' in a way that shouldn't provoke anger from the 'bully'. It's the tone more than the message. Mediators need to keep a cool head always. Ral315 (talk) 03:02, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

- So, have I failed here or is there still the possibility of me succeeding? If so, what do I need to do? Dan100 (Talk) 16:15, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
- Well, wait a while longer! We aren't the quickest committee at making decisions. I personally vote neutral, as, while I think you'd probably do a good job, I'm not convinced. I am also curious how much time you would be willing to dedicate to mediation, given your work at WikiNews. [[Sam Korn]] 13:54, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Community:
- Support. Seems up to the task, notwithstanding the above, which, in all honesty, seems rather ambiguous to me as per the objection. El_C 09:09, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. I couldn't figure out what he was doing with Gulf war syndrome and Depleted uranium (see their talk pages), and when I tried to ask him on his talk page, he archived my questions before answering them. He seems way to quick on the draw for someone who won't answer basic questions. —James S. 09:48, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Support. Dan helped me out in a dispute once, acting as an informal mediator. He had a calming effect on the whole situation, made constructive suggestions for a compromise, adding his suggestions to the page then reverting himself so we could compare them. It was incredibly helpful and had the effect of putting an end to the dispute. He'd be a great addition to the mediation committee. SlimVirgin (talk) 10:03, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
