[edit] Request Information

Request made by: Herostratus 21:46, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Where is the issue taking place?
Wikipedia:Protecting children's privacy
Who's involved?
Primarily myself (Herostratus) and User:Thryduulf. Others peripherally.
What's going on?
Should this policy be tagged as "Rejected" or keep its "Proposed" tag for now.
What would you like to change about that?
I want the "Proposed" tag to remain for the immediate future. User:Thryduulf wants the "Rejected" tag. We have edit warred a bit over this. My basic argument is at Wikipedia talk:Protecting children's privacy#Where we stand, a summary to date. Counter arguments are in various nearby sections, such as Wikipedia talk:Protecting children's privacy#Rejected and its subsections.
Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
No, you can reach me at User talk:Herostratus.

[edit] Mediator response

Hi there, I'm going to take this case if no-one involved has any objection. Please allow me some time to read through the material before I start getting involved. Thank you. —Xyrael / 16:56, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

While using the talk page of the article in question to solve a dispute is encouraged to involve a larger audience, feel free to discuss the case below if that is not possible. Other mediators are also encouraged to join in on the discussion as Wikipedia is based on consensus.

This is not a matter for mediation. Thryduulf and Herostratus are in dispute about a proposed guideline (and incidentally there was an edit war over the tag on the page). Comments are welcome from anyone on the merits of this proposal, but it seems to me that a mediator cannot determine whether a proposed guideline passes or not. >Radiant< 23:12, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
I would agree. Would the parties involved accept a third opinion, instead? I think this would be more appropriate. —Xyrael / 12:19, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
As one of the parties, I would certainly accept a third opinion and/or RfC. I think the issue is wider than just Herostratus and myself. Thryduulf 23:49, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
