[edit] Request Information
- Request made by: Russell E 02:04, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Where is the issue taking place?
- World Hunting Association
- Who's involved?
- Russell E Pete1080 Worldhunt Pgarbow 68.60.162.162 64.79.89.50
- What's going on?
- I believe the page was created and expanded as a promotional vehicle for the World Hunting Association. I replaced the article with a NPOV-compliant treatment, which was met by repeated page blanking and alteration and deletion of my signed talk page comments. Eventually Pete1080 has been engaged on the talk page and some awareness of policy and willingness to compromise has possibly been reached, however Worldhunt appears to want to continue to add promotional material.
- What would you like to change about that?
- I would like an opinion on my assessment, and some assistance or advice on how to handle repeated edits that insert inappropriate promotional material and remove presentation of attributed notable criticial opinion.
- Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
- No, use Talk:World Hunting Association
[edit] Mediator response
- A possible step to take would be a request for semi-protection. That would allow some cooling-off time before legitimate edits can begin again. Lauren 16:16, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've looked further into the article. The original article was basically a direct copy from a few different websites, including a press release, an article about bass pro shops' opposition, and probably multiple others. Now, the current version has been revised, so that it is not a direct copyright violation. I will be contacting the involved parties to discuss this issue. Lauren 16:16, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion
While using the talk page of the article in question to solve a dispute is encouraged to involve a larger audience, feel free to discuss the case below if that is not possible. Other mediators are also encouraged to join in on the discussion as Wikipedia is based on consensus.
- Thanks for looking into this, Lauren. Since requesting mediation, the abuse has stopped and most of the resistance to presenting a neutral point of view seems to have been overcome now, actually. Sorry if you've expended effort unneccessarily. --Russell E 22:55, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
