[edit] Request Information

Request made by: Passdoubt | Talk 21:06, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Where is the issue taking place?
Padua Academy
Who's involved?
A number of anonymous users, a number of which appear to have a personal relationship with the school in question.
What's going on?
Padua Academy is a girls' high school in Wilmington, Delaware. Earlier this year, students at its "sister school" (an all-boys school across the street) produced a video as a joke in which they asked Padua students to sign a petition ending women's sufferage. The dispute is over whether to include a link to the video in the "External links" in the article. Some of the anonymous user(s) feel that it makes the school look bad, it's "not funny," it's "sophomoric," and it harms the reputation of the Catholic church.
Those who would like to see it linked maintain that it is noteworthy because the school recieved press for the prank, and that encyclopedia articles shouldn't disinclude information to protect reputations.
What would you like to change about that?
Resolve whether these or other reasons are valid, and whether the link should be included in the article.
Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
Not necessary.

[edit] Mediator response

No action on the case or the disputed page for at least fourteen consecutive days, contacted requestor and asked if this was still an issue. Apparently, things have died down, so I have closed this case on the condition that if it becomes an issue, it can be reopened. CQJ 15:49, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree that would prb. be better in this issue Aeon Insane Ward 00:31, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

While I can see why the issue might be upsetting to Padua alum and students, and is not up to the standards of gentlemanliness required of Sallies boys, I don't see that the inclusion of the link to the video is out of context with the article. It is a very trivia-based and 'pop' outline of the institution. If the article was rewritten to provide a more serious and historical treatment of the school, then the video would clearly be out of context. Richardjames444 13:15, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
